1. Make-a-Mess this Monday. Spend the day in Glenview and make a mess with the kids. If you have the whole day to play, hit the Kohl’s Children’s Museum first to take in some of their interactive exhibits. Then, grab lunch at one of the restaurants in The Glen like Eggsperience or El Jardin. Then head over to Make-a-Messterpiece to have a blast making a mess. The kids will love the Wild Indoors and Stay Active themes as they cook, create, bang, and generally have fun at the various activity stations.
2. Act like a Tourist – Monday is the perfect day to head over the Shedd Aquarium since admission is FREE! Then, if your kids get Tuesday off as well, like mine, head over to the Field Museum for one of their Free Days. Monday is also a free day at the Museum of Science and Industry. Don’t miss the Jim Henson exhibit! The exhibit closes Jan. 23^rd and those additional tickets aren’t free so go online and buy them now. 
3. Hit the Matinee. Most movie theaters offer discounted matinee movie tickets. So, take advantage of the day off to go see an early movie with the kids. Call your local theater first or check fandango.com to double check the discounted movie times.
4. Go sledding. According to the weather report, we should still have snow on Monday so grab your sleds and heat up some hot cocoa. If you don’t have a favorite sledding hill already, check this site to find one in your county.
